tracing.co.nz is a unique Kiwi solution that hails from Christchurch. Created by MediaSuite, a web design firm in Christchurch that create large sites and solutions for government, this website is unique in that it is FREE, it also has been created by the team at MediaSuite as a koha to New Zealanders to solve the problem of contact tracing.

This site is very easy to set up and use following these steps:

1. A organisation registers and is approved.
2. The organisation is sent a printable QR code, along with options for contacts entering your site who may not have a phone.

covidregister.nz is designed by a company called WebFox who comes from Auckland. This website is a free site that is also very easy to use. This site is slightly different in its approach from tracing.co.nz in that the business owner can log in to see the visitors’ details.

Registration is instant for this website and you can obtain a QR code once registered. A unique feature of this site is that you can log your visits to places as a sort of diary for personal use.

The popular design site Canva has a QR code generator.

The great thing about this tool is that you can whip up a great-looking project, then add a QR code to it easily with their tool.

This solution requires you to use a Google Form to capture visitors’ details who wish to enter the premises.

This is a simple form that captures the visitor’s mobile number, along with any other information you might wish to capture. It is easily sent to people using a QR code that we can generate for you.

Please bear in mind these pros and cons:

• Pros – it captures whatever information you need to capture. Quick to set up and implement.
• Cons – some may not have a smartphone or find it tricky to complete, plus it takes time to enter which may not work if people are rushing to work. If users don’t have a mobile, you should consider capturing other information such as name/email also.

Parents and visitors to your school register via your Skoolloop app and click the check-in tile (or scan the QR code on the poster provided –  attached here for you to print). This will take them to a page where they provide their name and contact details, sign the form and check-in, upon leaving they simply click check-out.

All these responses collate in your Skool Loop App Console, which you are then able to export to a CSV file and print if needed.

 

safer.me is a more full-featured option designed for businesses. They have an interesting comparison table of ‘best practices’ for contact tracing for businesses. The New Zealand Government Ministry has sponsored SaferMe to provide free contact tracing to all New Zealand businesses.

Whether this stays free… only time will tell.

School App is a popular smartphone app that is developing a solution that will enable people to check-in and check out of a venue or school.

Their COVID-10 tracing solution will be simple to set up and easy to use.

Beaconstac offer a more full-featured option that is intended for businesses. The free option works well.
