The Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum has the potential to make one of the most significant changes to education in recent years. 

Underpinned by relevant facts specific to your local history, compiled by our highly experienced resident researcher and archivist, Kathleen Stringer and delivered by one of our specialist PLD facilitators, this ANZH Introductory Workshop will help your team explore possibilities and identify the greatest opportunities for your school.

Who is this workshop for?

Designed to give teachers and leaders confidence, relevant information and practical tools, this workshop provides an ideal introduction for any school that is just starting to explore the ANZH curriculum. 

Ideal for a staff meeting or as part of a teacher-only day, this bespoke 90 minute workshop can be delivered virtually or in-person.

What the workshop includes:

  • A pre-workshop needs assessment
  • An overview of the big ideas/concepts and how your current learning supports inquiry practices
  • Bespoke research and reference material relating to mana whenua and migrant histories within your local rohe/community
  • How migrants, settlers and te Tiriti impacted your local community and society in general
  • Practical tips, tools and resources to help people apply the Understand Know Do framework
  • Questions, ideas and resources to help teachers plan their next steps

Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how the curriculum is structured, some practical experience of applying the Understand, Know Do framework and a plan of where to begin with this bold new approach to teaching Aotearoa New Zealand Histories in a way that is specifically relevant to your school community.

  • In-person: $750 + gst (plus associated travel costs)
